Job Description :

The Nurse will conduct comprehensive Health Assessments for assesses and report results to the clinical team during the assessment team meetings. For our residential clients the Nurse will continually apprise the clinical team with information regarding the impact of physical health issues on each resident’s progress toward treatment goals. Working directly with the staff psychiatrist, the Nurse will prepare a weekly schedule for psychiatric appointments based on resident’s needs and review the psychiatrist’s medical directives. The Nurse will determine the need for, and initiate consultations and ongoing appointments with medical doctors and other health care specialists and clinics in a timely and supportive manner and coordinate ordering, dispensing, and recording of medication for residents. If certified, the Nurse will provide venipuncture services and liaise with laboratory personnel. The Nurse will work in close collaboration with the Infection Prevention and Control Lead to implement appropriate infection control procedures and ensure procedures are followed by staff and residents. The Nurse will schedule the part-time nursing shifts and provide annual performance appraisals for the part-time nurses, identifying improvement necessary to provide quality nursing care

Qualifications and Educational Requirements :

• Bachelor's Degree (required).
  

• Registered Nurse (RN) License (required).
  

• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (required)
  

• Candidates must be registered with the Ontario (or other Canadian) College of Nurses. Experience in a mental health setting or a CNA certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health is an asset. The ideal candidate has advanced health assessment skills and supervisory experience. A venipuncture certificate is required or a willingness to become certified if selected for the position. Computer literacy is essential for the purposes of electronic charting, particularly the ability to use Microsoft Office.
